⚠️ What's New in U46 ⚠️
As one might expect, there's A LOT of changes this update with subclassing.
Arcanist's "Herald of the Tome" and Nightblade's "Assassination" skill lines are basically the core of every full DPS, ideally with Arcanist as the base class for crux banner.
Herald and Assassination together have most of the best damage skills and passives. For Beamers specifically, the 3rd line is ideally Templar's "Aedric Spear" as it performs the best in Single Target (mainly via Burning Light passive), but Dawn's Wrath is also very competitive.
Other notable DPS skill lines are Storm Calling, Ardent Flame, Animal Companions, and Grave Lord.
Also, VMA 2H is almost 10K better than Inferno now for Beamers (read #4 below as to why) but Inferno still has its place. As always, adapt to the situation.
For the majority of players/groups, I would recommend Herald + Assassination + Aedric as your 3 skill lines, especially for the following reason:
The neat thing about Aedric is you can slot an Aedric skill for another 12% Crit Damage (CD). This is redundant on the Trial Dummy, but in trials it can trivialize CD optimization as it allows your team to drop Major Force (e.g. Sax) for Lucent Echoes. Thus, you basically have 100% uptime on 23% CD, rather than relying on War Horns and Sax for Major Force's 20% CD.
However, slotting an Aedric skill means you need to drop either Blade Cloak or Camo Hunter. I believe the best option is replacing Camo and putting Savagery/Prophecy on the banner, but this means you'll need a tank in Yoln or someone in Zenas' for Minor Courage. Minor Berserk can be supplied by the healer(s).
Alternatively, instead of slotting an Aedric skill for the CD, you can slot Fighting Finesse (Blue CP), but you'll need to drop either Wrathful Strikes or Exploiter.
There are many different combos and methods, but what I mentioned above should be satisfactory for most groups. Trial teams can even drop Alkosh, but Beamers still need to source ~2300 pen (probably the best way for most groups is Ansuul + 1 Light).
For high-end teams, the answer is more complicated, and they'll need to think a bit more carefully about how to min/max. Regardless, there is a huge power creep this patch, so content is going to be noticeably easier as long as you (or your team) use subclassing.
Thanks to Luna Cairu, Zeebs, Skinny Cheeks, Evael, Alduin, MGSnakes, GoAvs and Kortekk for the many discussions and tests in the DPS Nerds discord server.
I encourage y'all to read thru the patch notes if you want to know all the changes, but I'll leave a simplified overview of some of the most notable combat changes below.
1.) Subclassing
- You get to pick one or two skill lines from other classes, but you must always keep AT LEAST one skill line from your base class. These subclassed skill lines must be leveled but the progression is shared among all your characters.
2.) Big Azureblight Nerf
- "This set now requires 20 additional stacks of Blight Seed for each group member wearing this set"
- It's still a very strong set in AoE scenarios but it's essentially back to a one-person-only set
3.) Arcanist's Fatecarver Changes
- "Increased the cost of this ability and its morphs by 40%. Increased the damage of this ability and its morphs by ~8%. These abilities can now hit a max of 6 targets, rather than having no target cap"
- VERY noticeable sustain nerf for beam arcs. I recommend Pragmatic Fatecarver instead for content, even for most high-end trial groups.
4.) "Beam" ability changes
- Week 4 changed "beam" abilities to be considered "Direct Damage" rather than "Damage Over Time". These include Radiant Destruction, Fatecarver, Soul Strike, Vampiric Drain and all of their morphs.
- This means that Fatecarver can no longer contribute to Azureblight or Runecarver
- Grave Lord's DoT boosts no longer affect Fatecarver
- These beam abilities can now be buffed by Maelstrom 2H's 12% direct damage boost
5.) Null Arca Buff
- "Increased the damage of this set by ~8%. Reduced the cooldown after it activates to 4 seconds, down from 5"
- This is roughly a 30% effective damage increase for Null, making it the best ST trial set
6.) Nightblade's Assassination Changes
- Master Assassin: This passive now increases your Critical Chance by 6.6% against enemies you flank, rather than 2974 penetration
- Grim Focus: This ability and its morphs can now stack up to 10 times, rather than 5. Merciless Resolve gives 30 Weapon/Spell Damage per stack. Relentless Focus gives 40 per stack
7.) Pillager's Profit Nerf
- "Reduced the amount of Ultimate this set grants per tick to 2%, down from 5% of the Ultimate spent"

The clip for some reason got a little bit glitchy when I imported into After Effects, sorry about that.
I lowkey choked the ending haha. I improved my weave a bit the next day (screenshot at the end) but cant seem to get a lucky parse so I gave up lol. On average I tend to get 109 or 110K. Anyways, hope ye enjoy.
Build (2 Medium, 5 Light):
1 Kilt
1 Slimecraw
5 Perf. Bahsei
5 Diamonds Victory
This build I got from Jaises 117K magden video. Smex also has a 117K Im pretty sure. I think on console/controller tho, the max is prob 114K or 115K (with more luck and better low mag management).
Of course, if you have any questions leave a comment.

Went back and improved my sweeps weaving to be able to do 5 Sweeps (technically 4.5) in 1 Purifying Light. Ill leave some quick info below on how I practiced sweeps weaving.
High: 115K
Average: 113K
Low: 110K
I also did a few parses in Pillar Of Nirn (with Bahsei). My highest out of 5 parses was 111K, though 112 should be possible with more luck.
EDIT Jan. 22: I just got Deadly and tried 5 parses which were all ~109K so Im assuming on console the ceiling is 111K-112K (same as Pillar).
^It seems the consensus is to run Deadly in trials unless a boss fight is long enough for Kinras to outperform. Pillar might be a good substitute if you dont have Deadly. Kinras should perform higher if a fight takes longer than ~35 secs AND you never drop Kinras buff. In casual runs however, feel free to run what you want.
Build in the video (6 Light, 1 Med):
1 Slimecraw, 1 Kilt, 5 Bahsei, 5 Kinras (Daggers)

Sweeps Practice
First off, if youre on PC I highly recommend getting a weaving metronome (is that what theyre called?) add-on. Itll let you know exactly when to Light Attack (LA).
On console its a bit more difficult but not too bad once you get used to the rhythm. I recommend just spamming sweeps on a dummy over and over and finding that exact timing where you can LA. The exact timing is somewhere around the third strike of sweeps, right before your character lunges for the 4th strike.
I tend to watch my Kinras buff timer; whenever I see it refresh, I know my LA went off. Try to play with the timing and do faster and faster weaving. If your LA didnt go off, then you probably went too fast. Slow it down a little. Once you find that sweet spot, try to make it consistent. Eventually youll be able to do it based off of feel.
Try to add in a few skills into your sweeps practice too. Casting Purifying Light or Trap mid-sweeps is a bit weird at first. After that, parsing is mostly just a rhythm game and praying for beam crits. ESO - 115K+ DPS Magicka Templar - Deadlands [Xbox NA]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xqdUGeNZnns/mqdefault.jpg)

~200 better score than the last CR lol, but with 35 vit. Sorry I cant show our Xoryn because [REDACTED] 🗿. We definitely did not [REDACTED] 🗿.
I forgot to take off Silver Leash at the start, and I didnt realize it was on until we pulled 1st boss lmao, despite me casting it once on the 2nd add pull (I thought it was Debilitate). And I didnt use executes on Baron until 15% because I was botting out. So Im kinda mad at myself about that.
Also accidentally spammed Dark Shade on the Necro bridge cuz I thought I was on front bar haha (to proc Null Arca)
Other than that, the run was solid. It was probably our fastest Knot Run. Unfortunately missed the Cavot burn, partly because I got cursed, but we also had some buff downtime. If we got a sub 2:10 first boss and the Cavot burn, this prob wouldve been basically the perfect run for us, although the add pulls are a bit slow at times.
Anyways, I left the team for personal reasons so sadly cant upload a 257K+ run on the ol Blade. Update 44 drops tomorrow (Nov 13) for console so theyre gonna try to reorganize things to try again for the trifecta.
Thats it for now. Thanks for watching!
Q: Why Stamblade?
A: I was tired of playing the Arc and when the team reached out to me, I told them Id join but only if I can play stamblade lol. Turns out its not bad and were actually faster with the blade. I honestly feel like the stamblade is underrated, even in U43. Its not BiS but its not absolute garbage either. However, I do feel kinda useless during the Knot Run and Xoryn since I cant cleave or range attack, but I guess the pros outweighed the cons for us.
