Thank you so much for listening to my original piece inspired by the Parshendi warrior, Eshonai, from Brandon Sanderson’s amAZING novel “Words of Radiance.” I wanted to make a haunting song that would - in my opinion - represent the inner turmoil and struggle that Eshonai faces in the novel; hence, “Eshonai’s Lament”. The style I kept very similar to that of “Song of Secrets” for the sake of continuity - and it’s so much fun to sing!! I personally picture this being the musical backdrop to her inner monologue as she tries to decide what is best for her people and observes what she sees as a decline in their ancient culture.

For those of you who may be wondering: no, this is not a real language. No, this is not even “real” Parshendi. (Is there “real Parshendi”??) After toying with the idea of combining several existing languages, I ended up just making up some “cool” sounding words that seemed to fit the style I was going for. So any semblance or relationship to an ACTUAL language is COMPLETE COINCIDENCE. No offense to anyone!
