In this video interview, EE Times Editor-in-Chief, Nitin Dahad, chats to Erzsébet Fitori, Executive Director of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) in Europe. The European SNS JU is a public-private partnership whose stated aim is to facilitate and develop industrial leadership in Europe in 5G and 6G networks and services, and has over €900 million EU funding which is matched funded with an equivalent of private sector funding.
On its web site, it states that the SNS JU funds projects that shape a solid research and innovation (R&I) roadmap and deployment agenda by engaging a critical mass of European stakeholders and facilitating international cooperation on various 6G initiatives.
In the conversation with Erzsébet Fitori, we ask her to elaborate on the role of the SNS JU both in Europe and the global context, some of the things that she sees happening in the program, the opportunities from 6G which will be about more than just connectivity – with capabilities like ambient sensing, plus some of the learnings from deployment of 5G.
