Eric A.K. walked away from Flotsam and Jetsam in 2001 and for a while, it looked like that might be the end of the story. In this episode, we cover the band's rocky stretch with fill-in vocalist James Rivera, Eric A.K.'s eventual return, the 2004 sold-out Japan tour, and the making of Dreams of Death (2005) Flotsam and Jetsam's first true concept album, built around a story of nightmares, violence, and psychological unraveling pulled straight from Eric's own dreams.
We break down the writing and recording process, the album's new sonic elements acoustic passages, progressive structures, even flashes of death metal key tracks like "Straight to Hell," "Parapsychotic," and "Childhood Hero," critical reception, and the victory-lap Live in Japan DVD that followed.
