More and more the internet is becoming a business/job for companies and organizations. What used to be a place where people actively shared ideas and information has become a way for people to self-promote and to sell products. Nowhere else has this become more true there here on YouTube, where YouTubers are making their YouTube channels a profession. Turning channels into marketing machines for self profit. Recently I got into a little squabble with a fellow YouTuber because of their practice of hocking products.
Then there is Facebook where organizations are springing up left and right to "Help" all sorts of people and issues. Are they really helping?... or are people finding a way to make money off of issues we care about as a community? We are not trying to shame anyone, but trying to have a real conversation about where we are heading as a community and what are values really are.
