I know that we have posted this photo before....But tommorow is Daniel's 18th birthday. The little boy who walked into our lives almost thirteen years ago is becoming an adult. All of today he has been walking around saying things like..."This is my last day of work as a minor"...or...""This is my last time taking out the garbage as a minor".
I can sense in him, the excitement(and small amount of sadness) at the close of one part of his life and the beginning of a new chapter. Having crossed that bridge ourselves, it's easy to remember how it felt. But we are also so excited to be celebrating this day with him because that little boy who stole our hearts all those years ago has grown into a young man...but he still has our hearts...and we are very proud of him.
To our son we would say...First, Happy Birthday! Enjoy this day, you have earned it. And second....you might be moving into a new chapter of your life as an adult, but it's only the beginning of a lifetime of new adventures....Just like the one we embarked on the first day we got to call you son.
