Epic Games announced that it was laying off more than 1,000 employees, roughly 20 percent of its workforce, in response to a decline in the popularity of Fortnite and revenues across the company as a whole.

In addition to the layoffs, Epic is slashing over $500 million worth of identified spending in contractors, marketing, and other roles in an attempt to stabilize the company.
