Together with our Korean automotive customer, KIA and technology partners, Siemens and Partners Lab, we jointly designed and manufactured an optimized Die Casting insert with conformal cooling channels. 3D printed insert with conformal cooling channels proved to have improved the cooling efficiency of the molding process and life span of the tool insert compared to a conventionally manufactured inserts. With improved cooling performance, an increase in production yield of diecast parts was observed, minimizing common rejects due to heat check and seizures.
