In the moments before the NFL formally approved the most expensive franchise sale in league history, the next owners of the Seattle Seahawks stood together in a Marriott hotel ballroom near the Atlanta airport.
There was Vinod Khosla, the Silicon Valley pioneer who helped found Sun Microsystems.
Beside him was his wife, Neeru, the education philanthropist who will become the Seahawks’ controlling owner. Their son Neal, an artificial intelligence health-care entrepreneur, stood nearby. So did daughter Nina, a fashion founder whose jacket soon drew its own wave of attention on social media.
It was a notably different scene from the traditional NFL ownership introduction.
