Paul is an Oologah, Oklahoma-born singer/rider/roper now living in Nashville. If you were to look up the phrase “three chords and the truth” in the dictionary, you might see pictures of country legends like Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash... but more recently, you might also see Paul. Though his songs are fresh and he himself is young, he is an old soul with a knack for capturing time-honored traditions and summing up classic sentiments in catchy, three-minute songs. Lyrics
Enjoy The Ride
I was 15 I guess and he was born in 1935
Most of his life was spent
In boots and spurs breaking colts to ride
Retired in a saddle shop
Just 10 miles down a blacktop road
From where I grew up back home
He was an artist with the leather and knives and hammers
That stamp those oak leaf swirls
He had a cowboy philosophy
About gold and glory and lonely rodeo girls
He’d say ain’t nothing like the setting sun
On the back of a horse when you let him run free
Take it from me
Enjoy the ride
Like it’s your last
Son this old life sure goes by fast
Sit the saddle tall
And if you should fall
Ain’t no thing at all
Just dust yourself off
Forget your pride
Enjoy the ride
The doctors gave him 6 months
And that was 5 long years ago
But he was tougher than dirt
And it was just like him to not let anybody know
The friends and neighbors all gathered round
Pastor Bill laid him down to rest
The wind whispered from the west
Enjoy the ride
Like it’s your last
Son this old life sure goes by fast
Sit the saddle tall
And if you should fall
Ain’t no thing at all
Just dust yourself off
Forget your pride
Enjoy the ride
