Enfields in Ireland Part 5 - Conor Pass Co Kerry with Janner Fox

Thank you for joining Mark (the most wanted) and I on our trip to Ireland on our Royal Enfields. Mark rides his Royal Enfield Classic 500 and I’m on The Witch, my Royal Enfield Himalayan.
In this episode we are treated to a ride around County Kerry with Janner Fox of Royal Enfielder's Ireland. We leave Inch after camping for the night and head for Dingle, and another place we had on our 'to do' list, Conor Pass. Once again great roads and breath-taking scenery. We then follow Janner to an Irish "Gateway With a View", through Ballybunion and stop for a quick chat. Before boarding our ferry over the river Shannon, Janner shows us Carrigafoyle Castle and I fly the drone around.

Carrigafoyle Castle:
In 1580 a garrison of Irish and Spanish soldiers holding the castle for the rebel tarl of Desmond was besieged by Sir William Pelham. The castle fell after only 3 days when it was attacked by artillery from the low hill to the west. the western wall was levelled, the garrison was executed. and the Earl's valuables, which had been kept in the castle, were sent to Oueen Elizabeth.
Standing on the edge of the Shannon estuary on what was originally an island, Carrigafoyle Castle rises to five storeys with vaults over the second and fourth storeys. An unusally wide spiral stairs ascends in one corner of the tower and has small rooms as well as the main living spaces opening off it. The stone bawn wall at the foot of the castle contained a boat dock. One of the turrets in this wall seems to have been used as a dovecot where pigeons were kept for food.
