This is a composition stemming from a few ideas. The primary idea was that the main theme of Bionic Commando (GB) sounded somewhat like a Pokemon battle song. When thinking of how the song would be structured, I felt it needed more to make it a proper length, so another song from the game was added to provide variety. The second one also appeared in the NES Bionic Commando, and this composition borrows more from the style of that particular version.
It was interesting jumping back into FamiTracker to make this. Had to learn a few new things, but above all I aimed to make the song work without any percussion noise, as early Pokemon games did not incorporate it. I did end up using an extra sound channel in portions of the music (mainly the second half and intro) as the song otherwise didn't sound right to me.
For those who don't understand what's going on, this follows a very small series of costumed Raichu themed after video games. And yes, the image scrawled in the background is my own. There is a color version in the deviantART gallery.
