Congratulations to Robert Ybarra for receiving the National Waste & Recycling (NWRA) Association's Driver of the Year Award in the private sector. Although the NWRA represents private companies, they do have an annual recognition for one public sector driver or equipment operator each year.
This award celebrates the very best of our industry – professionals whose skill, discipline, and commitment to safety set the standard for waste and recycling operations nationwide.
Robert Ybarra started working for the Solid Waste Management Department in December 1994 as a Solid Waste Collection Worker. He was promoted to a driving position in 2003.
In his 30+ years working for the City, including 23 as a primary driver, he has remained accident-free. He is also the recipient of the City Manager’s Excellence Award in 2015, the first year of that recognition.
