The inspiration for CLOUDSCAPES came from my lockdown walks, where I would spend a lot of time observing different landscapes of clouds as they rolled across the sky. This piece attempts to collage these landscapes, contrasting slowly expanding chords with a biting moto perpetuo and rich, cascading overtones. By incorporating improvised passages and short sections of vocalisation, I also wanted to share the great sense of freedom and individuality which, for me, emerge from the act of cloud gazing.
