More videos to come! The note separation in these Seymour Duncan pickups are amazing! I wish I had done a comparison with extended chords, but thankfully there are plenty of videos on my channel with this example using the EMGs. Just check out my music playlists for more on the EMGs.
It's best to listen on decent monitors or headphones to hear the minor differences, but there are a few differences I noticed with the Seymour Duncans. (1) More note separation and overall clarity. (2) Less harsh frequencies, especially around the 3K range. (3) Warmer tonality. (4) Of course, less output since they are medium output, as opposed to the compressed, high output EMGs.
I wired these in myself using this diagram: bit.ly/2yxtEoU
Since the previous guitar tech, who installed my EMG 808s, did not put in new volume/tone pots, all I had to do was disconnect the 9V wires/connections - then remove the old pickups, and install the new ones using the above linked diagram. It wasn't the fanciest soldering job but it worked. It was my first time - took me several hours.
