Woke up to a running toilet. Stores weren't open. Turns out parts won't be available for maybe months!
Sometimes we need those "impossible" repairs in a hurry. The threaded plastic "bolt" on the float had broken off. Here's my fix, maybe something you can use in your future repairs. We walk through a fast, field solution: stabilizing the part with super glue to hold it temporarily so we can drill through the assembly, filling the void with epoxy, then reinforcing it with a stainless steel screw and brass washer. This addresses the failure mode: overtightened plastic bolt which fatigue-cracked. We will also consider material choices, loads, future failure prevention, and practical constraints (like avoiding thermal damage).
