wocomoCULTURE | Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton | Iconic Couples of Hollywood @wocomoCULTURE | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were married twice - and divorced twice. While filming the historical epic "Cleopatra", Liz Taylor, star of the major studio MGM and born into show business, met the charismatic Welshman who had played his way from poor backgrounds across the stages of London's West End to Hollywood. Their stormy relationship lasted and broke and lasted from 1963 until Burton's death in August 1984. Films like "Cleopatra", "The Hour of the Comedians", "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" or "... who desire everything" live from the passion and presence of the two exceptional actors.

The film from the series "Iconic Couples" tells the story of the actor couple. In addition, statements by Edward Meeks, Nathalie Delon, Jacqueline Monsigny, Marc Wanamaker, Patrick Brion and the presenter Melvyn Bragg illuminate a world beyond the limelight that developed at least as spectacularly as the screen appearances of this legendary pair of lovers.
