wocomoCULTURE | Katharine Hepburn & Spencer Tracy | Iconic Couples of Hollywood @wocomoCULTURE | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
The story of Katharine Hepburn, known for her eccentricity, and Spencer Tracy, the eternally depressed supporting star and product of Hollywood, shows that reality often trumps fiction. They loved each other for 22 years, mostly in secret, sometimes using Cukor's guest house for some happy moments. And they shared the cover of nine films, including "Woman of the Year" and "Adam's Rib".

Katharine Hepburn came from a wealthy family known for its social commitment. She actually wanted to be a boy and became an atypical actress who won four Oscars and was briefly involved with billionaire Howard Hughes. Spencer Tracy's childhood was difficult. He preferred watching films to going to school. So he decided to pursue a career as a stage actor. Thanks to his beginnings on Broadway, he had made it to Hollywood, where his personality was remarkably changed. Since he was married and had a deaf child when he met Katherine Hepburn, he did not dare to file for divorce.
The film from the series "Iconic Couples" features Daniel Selznick, grandson of Louis B. Mayer, Daniel Callahan, E. J. Fleming, Steve Bingen, Marc Wanamaker and Maryann DiEdwardo. Clips from Katharine Hepburn's greatest successes, including "African Queen" and Spencer Tracy's "Judgment at Nuremberg", can be seen.
** About the series ICONIC COUPLES **
