For Godrick you can definitely make your main weapon a lot stronger than what I went into it with. It took decently long because I think I only had the club at +5 or +6. You can go in with up to a +15 weapon but that would require a lot of exploration. You can use different weapons that can be usable with the right talismans, but for me I was still rocking the club for a bit. Armor is good to have for this boss so you can tank hits after performing R2 jump attacks with the club. My advice for his first phase isn't much different than Margit which is to know when you are comfortable charging in and being agressive and when you need to back off. I try to punish him reallly hard when he uses his roll to jump attack because it's so easily side stepped which leaves him open for a long time. To trigger him to do the roll rather than the wind projectile attack you need to be around close to medium range. It's also good to always jump instead of roll when he does his several ground slam attack since it is easier to dodge that way. In his second phase you will want to as soon as it starts immediately book it to the right of him so you can go around him and avoid the dragon fire breath compeletely without having to time a precise roll. Apart from a few new dragon head attacks the second phase is pretty much the same, so try to play the second phase mostly the same way as the first.
