El Toro (Spanish for The Bull) is a wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Designed by Werner Stengel and manufactured by Intamin, it opened to the public on June 11, 2006. Intamin subcontracted Rocky Mountain Construction to build the ride, utilizing prefabricated tracks for quicker installation and reduced construction costs. El Toro serves as the main attraction of the Mexican-themed section of the park, Plaza Del Carnaval, replacing the Viper roller coaster, which closed after the 2004 season.

Upon its opening, El Toro featured the steepest drop of any wooden roller coaster in the world at 76 degrees, a record later surpassed by T Express at Everland in 2008. Among wooden coasters, it ranks fourth in height at 181 feet (55 m), second in drop height at 176 feet (54 m), and third in maximum speed at 70 mph (110 km/h). The coaster has been highly praised and has consistently ranked in the top three of Amusement Today’s annual Golden Ticket Awards, except for its first two years.

El Toro occupies the former site of Viper, which closed in 2004. By early 2005, all components of Viper were removed except for its station. El Toro was officially announced on September 28, 2005, alongside Bugs Bunny National Park, a new children's themed area. It was also revealed that El Toro would be part of a new themed section called Plaza del Carnaval, including the nearby wooden racing coaster, Rolling Thunder. Al Rubano, the director of Six Flags Great Adventure's construction committee, oversaw the ride's construction. The lift hill peaked at 188 feet (57 m) on December 20, 2005. El Toro began testing on Memorial Day weekend in 2006, had a surprise opening on June 11, and celebrated its grand opening on June 12.

El Toro uses the same station as Viper and is partially situated on land once occupied by Great Adventure's first wooden coaster, Rolling Thunder.

Six Flags Great Adventure is an amusement park about 20 miles southeast of Trenton in Jackson, New Jersey. Owned and operated by Six Flags, the park is between New York City and Philadelphia and includes a water park called Hurricane Harbor. It originally opened to the public as Great Adventure in 1974, under the direction of restaurateur Warner LeRoy, and was acquired by Six Flags in 1977. The park is conveniently located off Interstate 195 along Monmouth Road (County Route 537).

In 2012, Six Flags merged its 160-acre (65 ha) Great Adventure with its 350-acre (140 ha) Wild Safari animal park to create Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari. It covers 510 acres (210 ha) and is the second-largest theme park in the world, following Disney's Animal Kingdom.
