An Archaeodeath Interview about Egyptian Archaeology and Museums with Professor Alice Stevenson.
Alice Stevenson is a Professor of Museum Archaeology at UCL Institute of Archaeology. She was formerly Curator of the Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology and Researcher in World Archaeology at the Pitt Rivers Museum. She originally specialised in the archaeology fourth millennium BC Egypt (Predynastic) but has gone to undertake research and teaching on topics such as museum histories, collections management and care, ethics and human remains, as well as antiquities and the Law. She is author of Scattered Finds: Archaeology, Egyptology and Museums (UCL Press 2019), Egyptian Archaeology and the 21st-Century-Museum (CUP 2022) and Contemporary Art and the Display of Ancient Egypt (UCL Press 2025), with edited volumes including The Oxford Handbook of Museum Archaeology (OUP 2022) and with Cara Krmpotich, Collections Management as Critical Museum Practice (UCL Press 2025).
