A video about the extreme version of anti-natalism - "efilism". I criticize the way they characterize life. Also, there isn't just one entity 'life', this is an abstraction humans have made to make communication quicker and easier. 'Suffering' and 'pleasure', ditto.
Life has meaning and worth... for the living beings themselves! Evolution has brought that about as well as altruism and empathy. 'Unintelligent design' is an incorrect phrase.
I think people should read more books on evolution. I give three examples: "Chance and Necessity"by Jacques Monod, "Human Natures" by Paul Ehrlich, "Living with our Genes" by Dean Hamer and Paul Copeland. They represent a new science - behavioural genetics, character is hereditary. Genes make us, genes vary from one person to another, They discover strong correlation of one variant of a gene - D4DR - with high novelty seeking, low harm-avoidance, which is characterized with optimism; and a strong correlation of the other variant of the same gene with low novelty-seeking, high level of harm-avoidance, which is characterized with being predisposed with pessimism, depression, seeing the world, and life, in dark colours. Efilism is the view of people with the latter traits of character, a philosophy made on such a view of the world is not valid for the whole population, neither is it valid for the future generation.
The best thing to do is to strive to better the life of all people on the planet.
