Booksie is a pan-African storytelling and literacy ecosystem designed to improve early literacy outcomes for African children between the ages of 3-12 by centring reading for pleasure, culturally relevant stories and data-informed instruction to build strong, confident readers.
Booksie operates across three integrated lines: a Bookshop selling curated African children’s books for ages 0-18, shipping worldwide; a Literacy Programme delivering structured reading and writing instruction through three programme formats using Jolly Phonics and their proprietary curriculum; and Page to Stage theatre productions adapting community-favourite books with original music and costumes. Together, they form a self-reinforcing ecosystem which puts African stories in children’s hands, minds
and hearts.
