I originally wanted to create something similar to the songs found on the "Electronic Circus" playlist by Spotify because they all seemed to be the same background-filler-content without any real substance to me and i wanted to do better.

I started with the basic drums, then added layer upon layer of different sounds and instruments. Nowadays, i want to focus a lot more on sound design as i still think i'm quite laking in this area. I could rely more on already existing presets to save me some time and headaches, but where is the fun in that?

Once i figuered out the chords (especially the "unpleasant" sounding ones) the lead and supporting melodies evolved quite naturally. It almost felt like painting at a certain point.

I especially like how many different elements and ideas are present and evolve throughout in under 6 minutes (!). I had songs in the past, almost double in lenght with hardly any more story to tell.

The name came after the song and felt like a good fit with the sort of unpleasentness shimmering through the dancey house beat. And combined with the innitial idea (the lifeless, almost ai generated spotify playlist content) and the image of a human (?) introducing an android (?) to smoking (?) i called the project complete.

Some fun facts:
- the "shrieking/broken-trumpet" is a distorted recorder played by me
- the cries scattered throughout the songs are voice samples by nivkii
- i had the idea for the cover after seeing images of C-3P0 getting a smoke
