Performing regular water softener maintenance is a critical component to any home maintenance checklist. All it takes is a bottle of IronOut (heyderfolks.com/cky8) and a few minutes of work. To avoid water softener bridging I like to use a golf club or any other implement that can get to the bottom of the machine and move the salt around. Then I’ll use IronOut mixed with water to clean the water softener. Finally I’ll run a regeneration cycle once the IronOut mixture has been poured into the brine well.
