With some paper and special photos, you can create a wonderful DIY Origami Photo Cube to keep or give as a gift. The basic origami behind these cubes is simple, and a websearch will bring up photo frames and albums done with this simple technique. But, just taking is a step further will give you a wonderful keepsake that you can have on your desk or dresser, or give to that special friend or family member.
In my examples, I have used white card stock stamped with sentiments and images. You can use all photos, a mix of photos and embellishments, or a mix of stamped images and sentiments to convey a special occasion, as I have done here.
I just takes 6 squares of paper, thinner is better especially for smaller cubes, that can be one or two sided. I used a mix of papers, but I selected 3 designs for each cube, and used two squares of each design.
The cube comes out 1/2 the size of the original paper, meaning, if you start with a 6x6 paper, you will get a 3x3x3 cube. If you start with a 4x4 paper, you will get a 2x2x2 cube. An 8x8 will give you a 4x4x4 cube, which is great for 4x6 photos cropped to 4x4 (or 3 7/8 by 3 7/8). Then create and embellish to suit yourself or your recipient. They turn out so fun!
