Today we’re pushing long-range outdoor Wi-Fi across our property out to the pond and barn area using two AX3000 outdoor wireless access points. This is a real-world test showing how you can extend fast, reliable internet hundreds of feet from your house — perfect for homesteads, large yards, farms, rural property, outbuildings, and security camera setups.
We mounted two different outdoor Wi-Fi access points:
• Omni-directional AX3000 – wide coverage, ideal for ponds, yards, outdoor entertainment spaces & smart lighting
• Directional AX3000 – point-to-point connection designed for long-range dedicated links (barns, garages, sheds, shops)
With this setup we achieved 600+ feet of real-world range with strong speeds (400–800 Mbps depending on distance and line-of-sight), and even pushed past 1,600 feet while testing directional reach.
This upgrade gives us outdoor connectivity for:
• Streaming music & movies at the pond
• Remote security cameras & game cameras
• Smart lights and timers around the property
• Kids’ tablets and Nintendo Switch outside
• Reliable rural Wi-Fi where cell service struggles
