As high school football returns, so does East High senior Mar’Qwez Mattox — grateful not only to be back on the field, but to be alive.
Known to teammates as “Big Chop” or “‘Quez,” Mattox is preparing for his senior season with a new perspective after surviving a shooting just steps from East High School in February.
