Thousands of people are expected to gather in East Cleveland this weekend for Shaw High School’s annual reunion, prompting the city to bring in law enforcement resources from across the region.
The increased security comes after a violent 2024 reunion weekend, when 10 people were shot in separate incidents around the events. One person was killed.
Officials are hoping for a repeat of last year where there were no major issues.
“The Shaw High School reunion is a very proud tradition here in the city of East Cleveland,” Mayor Sandra Morgan said.
East Cleveland police, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol have been planning for the weekend for months.
