News of Dolly Parton’s death reverberated across the world last week, and communities responded by organizing tributes, streaming her music, watching her movies and even renaming an airport in her honor.
In Ohio, fans of Parton seem to be responding by purchasing a memento for their car that benefits a good cause.
According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, issuances of Parton’s Imagination Library license plate have increased significantly since the singer’s death on Aug. 25.
Purchases of the plate support the Imagination Library, a program Parton established in 1995 which mails free, high-quality books to children each month. The program expanded in Ohio—with coordination from First Lady Fran DeWine—in 2019.
The license plate features a photo of Parton and a label denoting it is the official Imagination Library plate.
