Making an easy Victorian walking skirt with modern sewing shortcuts! This is a tutorial that mixes together modern and historical techniques: everything from horsehair braid hems to traditional Victorian pockets, with lots of detail about how I did everything. I put together a little pattern as part of this project, which includes patterns for the waistband, placket, and pockets, and is intended to supplement Victorian drafting manuals (which usually don't explain those details). I hope you'll see how approachable historical sewing can be - even if extant instructions tend to be a little confusing!

Pattern “Expansion Pack”

Future Pattern Releases!

I have a mailing list! My website with fancy sign-up section is still a work in progress (sorry!) but you can send me an email at linapiprekdesign@gmail.com to let me know that you want to be added. You’ll receive emails about pattern releases, early access to patterns via pattern testing, and any other big projects – not about video releases, that’s what YouTube notifications are for 😉

I also post updates to my Instagram page (instagram.com/linapiprek) and right here on YouTube.
