Teresa Mezza is Professor of Endocrinology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and a clinician at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, Italy. Her research focuses on beta-cell dysfunction and the early phases of type 2 diabetes, aiming to act before complications develop. By combining clinical practice, teaching, and cutting-edge studies, she works to bridge science and patient care in one of Europe’s largest academic hospitals.

During the EASD Annual Meeting 2025 in Vienna, Teresa Mezza was awarded the 60th Minkowski Prize, recognising her groundbreaking contributions to understanding the pathophysiology of diabetes, her commitment to prevention, and her leadership in training the next generation of diabetes researchers and clinicians.
