Roy Taylor is a s Professor of Medicine at Newcastle University, UK.
His #research focuses on the nature of type 2 diabetes where he identified the causative mechanisms of #type2diabetes and showed how these are returned to normal by #weightloss. This has led to a series of clinical studies on remission of #t2d which have also confirmed and extended understanding of the aetiological mechanisms.
Roy Taylor also developed the national system for screening for diabetic eye disease, leading to a major reduction in #blindness due to #diabetes across the UK.
During the @EASDiabetes Annual Meeting 2024 in Madrid - #EASD2024, Roy Taylor was awarded the Claude Bernard Prize to recognize his contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of diabetes and related #metabolic diseases and to honour his innovative #leadership in the field and lifetime achievements in diabetes research.
