Åke Lernmark is Senior Professor in Experimental Diabetes Research at Lund University Clinical Research Centre in Malmö, Sweden. His major research interest is the genetic and environmental
etiology of autoimmune type 1 diabetes #t1d. He is principal investigator for Sweden in The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study.
During the @EASDiabetes Annual Meeting 2023 in Hamburg - #EASD2023, Åke Lernmark was awarded the Claude Bernard Prize to recognize his contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of #diabetes and related #metabolic diseases and to honour his innovative leadership in the field and lifetime achievements in diabetes #research.
