Out and about Walking in Painswick
NB...Please excuse my laboured breathing and loud footsteps, I was ill at the time of filming this video. Also the video was cut short by about 15 mins due to my gimbal running out of power, my intention was to walk to the top of Stamages Lane then turn right and for a grand finale finish at the Church of Saint Mary, I did go back to my car & charge the gimbal but by the time it had enough charge to be usable the town had lost that early morning ambience & vibe. I will go back and film a concluding part soon at the church...
Painswick is known as the "Queen of the Cotswolds", it is easy to see why! It is full of narrow winding streets & lanes bursting with beautiful old world Cotswold stone architecture. Painswick is a civil parish within the district of Stroud and located between Gloucester and Stroud in the county of Gloucestershire. Like a lot of South West locations Painswick is thought to have connections with the wool trade.
A popular tourist spot in Painswick is the Church of Saint Mary (grade 1 listed), within its grounds it has a total of 99 yew trees. It is said that if a 100th tree should grow the devil himself would come along & tear it out!
There is plenty to see & do in Painswick, whether you just want to go for a nice meal or delve deeper into Painswick's history the town is well worth a visit. For parking there is a large free car park at the top of Stamages Lane.
There are no hidden OAAW logos in this video.
