City Siege was among the most straightforward stages in the mod development-wise; it came together fast once we started working on it and there weren't any major changes to its design during development either. This version is early in the development of the stage, but the only majorly incomplete elements are the setpieces, lighting and general lack of polish.
The stage had a bit of an interesting history prior to its final implementation however. The predecessor to this stage, Inferno Siege, was one of the very first stages made for Overclocked by Infinite Force back in 2018 (youtube.com/watch?v=zdW1heylXDg), but there wasn't much work done on it beyond that, outside of some blockouts and design concepts that weren't substantially worked on until years later. It was also intended to appear much later in the mod's original episodic structure, being fairly deep into Chapter 2.
When the decision was made to cut the mod down into one complete package in 2022, it was rescued from the cutting room floor and made into Stage 3 instead, in order to improve the pacing of the story (which originally had a huge block of cutscenes and dialog after Freight Frenzy) and give Sonic more content, since he would've only had one stage to himself otherwise. The stage got renamed into City Siege around that point to avoid the redundancy of having two levels with "Inferno" in the name.
