The way ancients slung - Slinging Greek style Acroballistics 2022-12-08 | A slinging style described in De Re Militari by Vegetius. This is a slinging style I didn't like a lot when I first tried it years ago. I thought it was putting stress on the arm but after getting smooth with the slinging motion of multi-rotational styles transferring to the greek style was easy and smoothness of motion was retained. It is ideal for short ranges short slings and a lot of repetitions. 10 rounds per minute is a sustainable rate that could last for 30 minutes or more per slinger.The clips are from earlier this year. Kestros Dart Slinging Acroballistics 2022-06-26 | Slinging different kestros darts. The fins are the biggest problem. I haven't found an ideal shape yet and they are the most difficult part of the dart to make. Latest experiment is the use of sheet metal instead of wood to make the fins more durable and easier to make. Sheet metal fins come with their own problems, they are difficult to secure on the dart by wedging or glue so I went for the swiss arrow method (saw cut to insert fins) this puts 4 fins which is probably an overkill. Even though sheet metal is durable when it gets bent it's impossible to straighten, and wood although slightly thicker if it has an airfoil shape it will perform better than the plate shape of sheet metal.
