Total energy cost is around 2 - 3 kWh. The clay was fired at a temperature higher than recommended (1150°C) which is likely why they were shiny and looked glazed.

Sling was 41" netted dyneema and the glandes were biconical 2:1, 49g. Elevation at that location was 6000 ft (~1830 m).

Chuckin' stones with a 1m long sling. Just past the first patch of lakeweed was 300m (i.e. "the white dots" which were a couple of rocks sticking out of the water). The second throw was the best distance, I'm guessing 320-330m. It has 7.6 second of hang time. This corresponds (most likely) to a sub-optimal release angle of about 35°, which is consistent with what I've seen from my throws previously. Simple trajectory models show that an optimal release angle of ~40° should get about 9 seconds of hang time and another 10 - 20 meters of distance. These were egg shaped stones ~42g each.
Again, this video just demonstrates that with distance slinging, speed is not king, air-resistance is king. Update: A side by side comparision with the Pocket Radar showed that they were within 2 mph of each other with a thrown tennis ball (~60mph) and within about 3mph when I was slinging a tennis ball over the top of them (~105 mph).
