"And I Swear that I Don't Have a Gun"
I was writing a song about dying, when I noticed that everyone who writes or sings about death, dies ... and usually tragically.
The prophetic first lyrics heard on Nirvana's 1991 Nevermind album are "Load up on Guns". Part way through the album, Cobain repeats the claim that he doesn't have a gun. The album concludes with "Endless, Nameless", where Kurt shows an all-to comfortable relationship with the thought of death.
In 1994, Cobain committed suicide leaving a note to his childhood imaginary friend, lying on the floor with a shotgun across his chest.
Side Note: I quickly reworked the theme of my tune to be about returning home through space and time (totally not dying). I then dropped the lyrics and turned the melody into a guitar instrumental. That should be safe (youtu.be/1FuUKGrjEGY)!
