Most of us have never lived through times even remotely like these. Until recently, we assumed that no matter what went wrong there were either individuals or institutional forces that would keep things from going too far amok.
Those days are over, at least for now.
The strength we need we will find within ourselves. The calm we need we will find within ourselves. And the peace we need we will find within ourselves.
There are two main factors to not just surviving, but thriving during times such as these:
1) Strengthen your nervous system. This entails not only physical but also spiritual cultivation and maintenance of things that matter. Through religion, spirituality, or personal growth of any kind, build your values, ethics, ability to forgive, and love of your fellow human beings who, after all, are going through all this just as you are.
2) Deal with the instability by choosing to be a stabilizer. At a time when we need strong people, choose to be strong. At a time when we need clarity, choose to be clear. At a time when people are looking for hope, provide it.
We can meet these times with all the power we have within. And it is infinite.
