Did you guys know a new Alien movie is coming out?! Well, by the time this stream is scheduled, it will already be out and I'm planning on seeing Alien: Romulus opening night and I'm hoping it will be great Xenomorph fun. To celebrate the new film I decided to dive into Duke Nukem maps or TC's that are inspired by the Alien franchise!
We had some technical issues with some other maps, so the next one we touched was from 2001 by a map author by the name of Fallout with his homage to Aliens with Aliens 2!
We finished it off with the first episode of a Total Conversion from the year 2000 by the name of Alien: Extermination. Bug Hunt (The Episode name) had some neat ideas but the level design did blend together.
To start off, we are going to dive into a small demo made by Zykov Eddy ( He made the fantastic user map 'Memories' this year) simply called Aliens. I have a few others lined up but that will depend on how well they function today as some aren't as easily supported via eDuke32.
What we do in these streams is showcase user created content to show what kind of passion and creativity this niche community has crafted to show others what Duke Nukem 3D has to offer for any Retro Boom Shooter FPS lovers, or even old Duke Fans (like myself) who may have not dipped their toes into the user content world. Additionally, we take a look at how these 2.5D games create their 3D world from a level design perspective as I try to learn from those who came before me since I'm currently making a map of my own for Duke Nukem 3D using Mapster32, the included level editor for eDuke32.
