This drive begins in North Plainfield, Somerset County, and follows U.S. Route 22 east for nearly twelve miles before joining the Garden State Parkway in Union. Though the trip lasts less than twenty minutes without traffic, it follows one of New Jersey's oldest and busiest commercial highways, linking the Raritan Valley with the Newark metropolitan area.
