Delhi is a city in Northern India. It is bordered by the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The city also contains the national capital in New Delhi. According to the 2011 census, Delhi's city proper population was over 1.1 crores, the second-highest in India after Mumbai.
The neighbouring satellite cities of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida make up an extended Urban/Metropolitan area called the National Capital Region (NCR). It had an estimated population (2016) of over 2.6 crore people, making it the world's second-largest urban area according to the United Nations.
