Without a doubt my favourite track from Wind Waker, Dragon Roost Island has always been a song that I've wanted to arrange for piano, and this cover was an absolute joy to work on. Hours and hours of playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl have also managed to ensure that this track has stuck with me for a long time.
I've been thinking of the different ways I could approach this for quite a while now, and - after a couple of scrapped drafts - this more aggressive take on the theme seemed to work the most. The faster-paced parts in the middle section also gave me an opportunity to improvise some really fun melodies and harmonies based on the original ideas. While I took quite a different approach to working on the track, I was first inspired to make this after hearing TheOnlyDeerAlive's acoustic cover which is also really worth a listen!
