Hope everyone has had a great start to 2017! Mine has been very busy so far, which is always good. This song... If I'm going to be covering all these songs, I just had to cover this one. It's basically a law in cover theory.
This cover has a pretty long history. I started this one about 3 years ago, trying to match a MMX style. However, I noticed that a lot of people go for that, so I put it to the side due to not being very creative, and also I was in college at the time. Fast forward to now, and I decided to go for a general SNES cover instead of just MMX. It ended up sounding like MMX, but eh. I did try something different with the echo by slightly changing the pitch. I thought it added in a little bit of flavor, so let me know what you thought!

Aaaaand were back to our normal schedule! I had a nice weekend to help catch up on things (namely, play BotW lol). I hope last weekend was just as nice for you all as it was for me!
Usually, when I do covers, I pick songs that I like. The songs could be from games Ive played over the years, or new songs Ive heard, but Ive had some kind of exposure to each song Ive covered in the past. This is the first time Ive covered something I have no connection with. As such, I struggled coming up with an idea for this one, especially in the 10 day limit I was given for PRC. I messed around with slowing the song down and adding a swing to it, which evolved into this reggae sounding mix. Definitely a stretch of my creative muscles here, as this is the first time Ive done this genre!")

My first experience with Captain Toad was by listening to the soundtrack, and it surprised me with the quality it had. Here was this cutesy little game about Toad that had this not very cutesy soundtrack to go along with. Another series with a similar soundtrack occurrence? Kirby.
So, with that connection made, I thought that Captain Toad music in a Kirby-style would fit very well! I also went with using FL Studio instead of a tracker to get some more experience with the software.
