The Golden Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award honours a remarkable Dalhousie alum whose long-standing commitment has advanced academic excellence and strengthened the university community.
The 2026 recipient, Dr. Richard “Rick” Murray (BEng’66, LLD’15) (1938–2026), was an engineer, entrepreneur and philanthropist whose 50-year career combined global leadership with a deep commitment to education and giving back. As founder of R.A. Murray International Ltd., he led major infrastructure projects worldwide, while supporting mentorship, student success and community development.
Through more than $7 million in philanthropic support, including the Murray Family Scholarships and contributions to the IDEA Project, his legacy continues to create opportunities for future generations of Dalhousie students.
This video honours Dr. Murray’s enduring impact through leadership, generosity and a lifelong dedication to empowering others.
