The video has been A.I upscaled from the DVD set. Yes, it's a bit wonky looking. The show has been using the same tape masters since it's premiere. Will it ever get a remaster, who knows?
It's interesting that they chose to present the intro in letterbox widescreen, with the clips simply cropped from the pilot. I'm guessing they just wanted a more cinematic feel? Also, it's a weird aspect ratio too, not 1.78:1 but more like 2:1.
