Alan Zajarias, MD, a Washington University interventional cardiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, comes from a family of cardiologists. After his cardiology training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Zajarias traveled to Rouen, France to train under the pioneer of the TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) procedure. He then returned to St. Louis and has been performing TAVR procedures for the last 10 years. Dr. Zajarias strives to minimize patients’ anxiety by answering any questions and making them and their families feel as comfortable as possible during their hospital stay.
