Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — a heart condition also known as HCM — is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in young people. The disease is genetic and often goes undetected until someone in the family experiences symptoms which can range from irregular heart rhythms to stroke.

Thankfully a new drug was approved this year that could mean a brighter future for people suffering from HCM.
