Dr. Halstead is a Washington University sports medicine physician at Barnes-Jewish Hospital who focuses his practice on sports related injuries in adults and children. In addition, he is the director of the Sports Concussion Program.

Special interests include the non-surgical treatment of sports related injuries and overuse problems that can occur. He focuses his practice on concussion management, exertional compartment syndrome in the lower extremity, injuries and pain in runners and back pain in the adolescent athlete. Dr. Halstead serves as an assistant medical director to the Go! St. Louis Marathon and is a team physician for the St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Blues.
